Repricer (short for repricing tool) is software that monitors competitor prices and automatically updates your listing price to maintain competitiveness, win the Buy Box, or protect margin โ without manual intervention.
Why Repricing Matters
On Amazon, the Buy Box rotates between competing sellers on the same ASIN based on price, seller metrics, fulfillment method, and availability. A seller priced $0.50 higher than a competitor with similar metrics often loses the Buy Box โ meaning they receive zero sales from organic and sponsored traffic even though their listing is active.
Manual repricing is impossible at scale. A seller with 500 SKUs cannot monitor and adjust 500 prices multiple times per day. Repricers do this automatically within rules you define.
Types of Repricers
Rule-based repricers: You define static rules (e.g., "always price $0.02 below the lowest FBA seller but never go below $18.99"). Fast and simple, but rigid โ can trigger price wars.
Algorithmic / AI repricers: More sophisticated tools model Buy Box share probabilities and optimize prices to maximize revenue or margin, not just win the Buy Box at the lowest price. These are often better at maintaining margin while still winning Buy Box at key sales periods.
Common Repricing Strategies
- Win Buy Box: Price just enough to win the Buy Box, with a floor to protect margin
- Maximize revenue: Accept losing Buy Box occasionally if holding price above competitors generates better margin
- Match competition: Price equal to the current Buy Box winner
- Avoid race-to-bottom: Set a minimum price floor โ when all competitors reach the floor, stop going lower

FBA vs. FBM Repricing
Amazon's algorithm favors FBA over FBM for Buy Box at the same price. FBM sellers often need to price 3โ5% lower than an equivalent FBA competitor to be Buy Box-eligible at the same metrics level. A repricer should account for this differential in its rules.
