What's changing
Until now the $1 million per occurrence and in aggregate requirement applied once gross proceeds passed $10,000 in a month. For categories with enhanced safety listing requirements, such as children's products, cosmetic and ingestible products and lithium battery products, it now applies at any sales volume. The same notice ends the option for sellers based in mainland China to submit new policies from insurers of their own choosing: from that date those policies must come through the Amazon Insurance Accelerator.
Who's affected: Sellers with listings in enhanced-safety categories, including small and new sellers who were below the old $10,000 threshold. Mainland China-based sellers must also change how they buy cover.
What to do about it
- Check which of your ASINs sit in categories with enhanced safety listing requirements.
- Confirm your policy covers those products at $1 million per occurrence and in aggregate, and that Amazon is named where required.
- If you are based in mainland China, plan to buy new cover through the Amazon Insurance Accelerator.
